Colorado continues to strengthen its presence on the national stage as several of the state’s top high school wrestlers earned spots in the newest TKDWN Media national rankings. Representing programs across every corner of the state, these athletes showcase the depth, toughness, and rising talent within Colorado wrestling.

No. 23 – Lincoln Valdez (Pomona)
Valdez continues Pomona’s tradition of producing elite lower-weight athletes and breaks into the national rankings with a strong preseason showing.

 120 Pounds

No. 34 – Drake Vombaur (Severance)
Vombaur represents Northern Colorado with a well-deserved national ranking in one of the deepest weight classes in the country. I expect for him to to absolutely rise in these rankings by the time the season ends.

 138 Pounds

No. 35 – Angel Serrano (Pomona)
Serrano adds another Panther to the national list as he climbs into the top 35 at 138 pounds.

Colorado places two athletes in the national rankings at this weight:

No. 12 – Derek Barrows (Pomona)
A top-tier contender nationally and one of Colorado’s highest-ranked wrestlers entering the season. Derek represents CO well and has consistantly been in the national rankings. Derek is a recent commit to Wyoming as well.

No. 42 – Justin Collins (Wray)
The small-school powerhouse Wray Eagles once again make noise on the national scene, with Collins earning a top-50 spot.

 165 Pounds

No. 8 – Kalob Ybarra (Pomona)
One of the highest-ranked wrestlers in the entire country and and a great representation of Colorado and Bear Cave wrestling Ybarra sits firmly inside the top 10.

Windsor continues its strong tradition in the upper weights with Kendall cracking the national list.

 175 Pounds

Colorado places three wrestlers in the national rankings at 175:

No. 23 – Ritchie Bruno (Brush)

This pair met in last year’s state finals, where Bruno pulled off a dramatic upset. Both now enter the season side-by-side in the national rankings. This is a match surely on a collision course that as a CO wrestling fan your not gonna want to miss.

No. 38 – Emmitt Munson (Pomona)
Another Pomona athlete earning national recognition, bringing depth to Colorado’s middle-upper weights.

 215 Pounds

Colorado places two wrestlers in the national rankings at this weight:

No. 14 – Evan Perez (Windsor)

One of Colorado’s top-ranked upperweights, Perez continues Windsor’s strong national presence.
